Greater Depth Maths is a fully-resourced structured approach which systematically and progressively develops pupils’ greater depth maths skills and knowledge though high-quality mathematical investigations which spark curiosity.

Created by a team of Herts for Learning Primary Maths advisers and published by Harper Collins, Greater Depth Maths is easy to use with a pupil resource pack and teacher guide each for each phase: KS1, lower KS2 and upper KS2.

This is a flexible resource that can be used alongside a school’s existing scheme of work to support pupils who are ready to extend their mathematical thinking. It provides a structured approach for systematically developing children’s greater depth maths skills and knowledge.

Teacher’s guide:

• exemplifies what greater depth maths looks like and how to assess for it;
• provides ready-to-teach sequences and PowerPoints for developing greater depth mathematicians, with support for modelling and questions to help teachers deliver the sessions.
• includes unique Stumble Support which supports teachers to scaffold the learning so that ALL pupils can access the learning.

• extensive opportunities for pupils to explore different maths concepts and develop their range of problem solving strategies;
