English

Back on Track: English supports English Subject Leaders and teachers to deliver an effective English curriculum upon wider school opening, ensuring that key skills are prioritised and taught within rich and engaging contexts.

The full programme is designed to be delivered in Years 1 - 6 over 23 weeks. Each year group has a Progress Pathway document which outlines their suggested journey through the resources.

We are presently, as a school, working our way through Back on Track for English for years 1- 6. Every class teacher has been really pleased with the texts, the planning and the progress they are seeing in the children's writing is fabulous.

The Back on Track: English comprises the following key elements:

Year group planning resources:
- Year group training CPD - individual sessions for each of years 1-6
- Six teaching plans for each year group 1-6
Three Whole School Explore and Engage units
Stranded Writing Priority documents with links to support remote learning
Re-prioritised Spelling Programme
Subject knowledge CPD:
- Back on Track: Phonics Phase 2 - 4
- Back on Track: Sentence Structure
Leadership CPD - to support English Subject Leaders with monitoring and implementation

Getting Back on Track

Within the package there is an option of a condensed pathway covering only 14 weeks. This has been specially designed for schools looking to use the resources and complete the programme during the summer term to help prepare pupils for the move up to their next year group in September.
